Bhangarh! Have you ever heard of this haunted town? Exactly not, then don’t worry I will share with you my spine-tingling experience of visiting this thrilling town. This Devil place is located between Jaipur and Alwar. It is an archaeologist’s delight. Bhangarh is the small village with rich historical ruins and is a popular because of its vampirism.
The Government of India has strictly banned all tourists or any trespassers to enter Bhangarh from sunset till sunrise. This notice does create doubts about visiting the ruins in dark. I am sure my thrilling experience will encourage you to visit Bhangarh. This ghost town is full of myths and some true horrible stories will shock you in its own manner.
The town Bhangarh was established in 1631 by younger brother of King Akbar’s General Raja Man Singh, Madho Singh. But all in vain just because of a curse. As told by the locals because of the curse Bhangarh gets vacated overnight and never will be a flourishing town. The only exceptions to this curse are temples and shrines in Bhangarh on the top of the mountains. The temples of Gopinath, Mangla Devi, Keshava Raj and Shiva (Someshwar) are very popular.
The story in short will certainly make you more enthusiastic to visit Bhangarh. Legend says, Princess of Bhangarh, Ratnawati was bestowed with great charm and beauty by God. She started getting marital offers from a very early age. There lived a evil magician (tantric) Singhia in the village who fell in love with the princess and was well aware that he does have a chance of marrying her. With a determined to marry princess, he prepared special scented oil with his black magic. The oil will hypnotize the princess and she would marry him. Princess maid foiled his plan. She warned the princess to avoid using the enchanted oil he gave to her. Princess threw the oil away which landed on a rock. The magic potion in oil started working and rock started rolling towards the tantric(to surrender himself to him) crushing him to death.
Dying magician cursed the town of Bhangrah, everyone living in the palace and their future generations that nobody will be left alive here and the soul of the dead will never attain salvation. The curse proved right, following year there was a battle with Bhangarh and Ajabgarh resulting in the
death of everyone in the village including princess Ratnawati.
Isn’t it interesting? But it’s all true. The visit to the palace must be strictly avoided after dark (unless you have a very strong heart). The locals will warn you that you can hear someone walking at night. On hearing this I was ready to play ghost buster but as per Indian law we are forbidden to enter Bhangarh after sunset.
Besides all these, I can say that Bhangarh will impress you with ghost stories and also with its quaint beauty and gorgeous temples.

Your story about the curse sounds intriguing
But yeah, I agree that Bhangarh is a very lovely place. I had tried visiting India before, although we were not able to visit Bhangarh due to limited time, but I already heard a lot of interesting stories about that so called ghost town, and I promise myself to go there when I get the chance to visit India again.

Some of us once “stayed back” in Bhangarh after sunset and it was spooky all right with mist in and feathery noises. But the the sound of weeping in male voice at 8pm was the last straw… for us.
