Belize City is the largest city in Central America, lying on its Caribbean coast, sandwiched between Mexico and Guatemala. The unique thing about Belize City is that it is built on rum bottles, loose corals and logwood chips and lies just a few inches above the sea level. Having a population of 70,000, the city was established by the buccaneer Baymen of St. George’s Caye in the early 1700’s. The city is divided into north and south by the Haulover Creek and there are three bridges that join both sides of the city.

In terms of accommodation, Belize City has great star-rated hotels like the Radisson, Princess and Belize that cater well to the needs of both the business traveler and the tourist. The city has an international airport, The Phillip Goldson International Airport, which is located in the nearby village of Ladyville and a number of international airlines run daily flights to and from it. For travelling locally Belize City also has a domestic airport which is the largest in the country. All the major Cayes in the city can be reached by water taxis and one can travel to and from other districts by buses which run frequently.
