Sunny beaches in Bocas del Toro are great way to relax in holidays.

A province of the Panama, Bocas del Toro is made of nine main islands and a mainland. Lying close to the Costa Rican border, Bocas del Toro has several uninhabited islets and the oldest marine park in Panama, the Isla Bastimentos. The province is an archipelago with the capital being Bocas del Toro or Bocas town. The area was discovered by Christopher Columbus. At the Bocas del Toro you will discover the unspoiled and laid-back charm of the Caribbean. Isla Colon is the largest island of the province but even that is soaked in the famous Caribbean slow and lazy lifestyle. So a holiday to Bocas del Toro will offer you a stress free environment to undo the harmful effects of urban life.

Covered in thick rainforests, tangles of vines and palms opening up to spectacular beaches which are covered by mangroves and reeds, promise a hell of an adventure. Underneath the waters there is a large coral reef ecosystem which is home to a large variety of tropical fish. For this reason the area has been described as a “Biologists fantasy”. Visitors love to hike through the plentiful rainforests to arrive at empty stretches of shores pounded by waves. Having such a treasure of natural beauty made Bocas del Toro the natural choice for 18 countries to shoot their ‘Survivor’ series!

The most popular activities to indulge in are dolphin watching, snorkeling, scuba diving and exploring the nearby indigenous villages. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic holiday Bocas del Toro is the most ideal of places, where you will find beaches practically to yourself. In the rainforests you will discover spectacular flora and fauna and settlements of the fast dying out Ngobe-Bugle people. The archipelago of Bocas del Toro seems to be lost in time with its natural beauty that is simply overwhelming. On the main land be sure to visit the Parque Internacional La Amistad, a large protected area with unbelievably beautiful fauna.

To get to Bocas del Toro, one can take the daily flights out of Panama City. The airport is on the Colon Island. Alternatively one can travel by a bus and then from the mainland, take a ferry. You could also opt for a car ride from the city of David to the mainland. The small town of Bocas can be explored by foot but for those who don’t cherish walking cheap taxis are available as well. A boat tour of the city can be very fruitful as you can get to watch the cavorting dolphins at the Dolphin Bay or go to the mangroves at Zapatillas Keys or Red Frog beaches, which have a thriving marine life. A bicycle tour of the city would be equally enjoyable. For travelling between different islands, water taxis are available at reasonable rates. Staying in Bocas is cheap and accommodations are easily available.
