of many animals like common langur, leopard, wild boar, sloth bear, deer, endemic toque macaque, elephants and also more than 150 species are found in this park.

Arugam Bay: Long tranquil beaches and a large pond are the two core features of this wonderful place named Arugam Bay. This pond is a shelter for loads of different types of bird species. Arugam Bay is situated only at a distance of 3km away from Pottuvil, a fishing hamlet.

This place was supposed to be one of the most demanding tourist sites before the area became dangerous due to worsening law and order.

Shillong: Scotland of East

shillongShillong, the capital city of Meghalaya is a breathtaking hill station in north east of India. Perched on altitude of 1496 m above sea level, this captivating city is surrounded with the Umiam ravine in north and Diengiei hills from the North West side making it a charming tourist destination dotted with all the blessings of Mother Nature.

Also known as the Scotland of East, 0 is a land of astounding natural beauty which is present in every nook and corner of this hill town. The mystic mountains, cascading waterfalls, pristine lakes, gushing valleys and wonderful attractive places; it has different façade for the people of all ages. It is the place where you will be spoilt of choice when it comes to visit the numerous attractions in and around Shillong. I started my trip to this beautiful city with an adventurous tour to the Shillong Peak. About 10 km from the city, the peak is situated at 1965 m above sea level and is the highest point in Meghalaya. From here, I saw the panoramic view of the entire city which was really awe-inspiring. In the night lights, the city looks like a star studded sky when seen from the peak.

In the heart of the city is the Ward’s Lake. It is a beautiful artificial lake which is named after Sir William Ward. The lake is surrounded with short garden walks which form a picturesque picnic spot for the locals and the tourists. Walking on the wooden bridge on the lake or boating in the crystal clear waters of the lake is really an awesome experience. A cafeteria and a dancing fountain are also there. Just below the lake is the beautiful Botanical Garden housing a number of indigenous plants and flowers. Another famous lake is the Umiam Lake which is 17 km from Shillong. You can enjoy various water sports activities here such as sailing, water skiing, boating, water scooter etc. Nearby it is the Lum Nehru Park which is an ideal picnic spot for the tourists. Adjacent to Lum Nehru Park is the Lady Hydari Park which has abundant varieties of plants and blossoming flowers.

Nohkalikai Falls CherrapunjiThe breathtaking hill town of Shillong is blessed with various cascading waterfalls which draw the tourist from all over the world. Some of the famous waterfalls which I found really the best are the Spread Eagle Falls, Elephant Falls and Sweet Falls. Besides, other famous falls are Tiger Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Crinoline Falls and Seven Sisters Falls. A must visit and world known place around Shillong is Cherrapunjee. It is situated at 1300 m above sea level and is renowned as the place with the highest rainfall in the world. Nearby it is a small place called as Sohra which is famous for its limestone caves and orange honey. To see roaring waterfalls while your drive to Cherrapunjee is really an unforgettable experience. Apart from it, the oldest Presbyterian Church, Grotto Church, establishment of Ramakrishna Mission, State Museum and Golf Course are also worth visiting attractions in Shillong.
